ANNO 2023/2024
This is the 13th edition of our annual newsletter ANNO. It was a busy first year in the studio in Abcoude. We made a report of all events. We also mention what happened in our network and try to be complete but we will undoubtedly have forgotten something or someone…. sorry!
Highlights were our duo show in Purmerend Complexity is awesome, Marja with Greet Weitenberg at BIG ART and the project in Goes, where Wim was the last AiR.

De installatie bigstitches 2, die Greet Weitenberg en ik samen hebben gemaakt, was te zien op Big Art in de Bijlmer Bajes samen met in totaal ruim 75 XL-kunstwerken van andere kunstenaars.

big stitches is a project by Marja van Putten & Greet Weitenberg.
We make large, bold works with textiles and other materials and with beautifully crafted details. We made our first duo exhibition in PLAYroom Zaandam in July.

- Kennemer Theater in Beverwijk
AITW-HUBSA-AIR/Goes
About seventy small rental houses from Beveland Wonen in Goes-Oost are being demolished. These are houses where residents have often lived for years. An art project by André Smits brings life to the two streets that will be demolished.
Ontroerwoud van Wim Vonk is the last AiR (artist in residence) in Goes.
Wim stayed one week to build his installation and got lots of attention by the media, newspaper and television as part of the project of André Smits who lived two years in this neihgbourhood and invited many artists to add a contribution.
Uit de Zeeuwse krant (PZC):
Schraap… ting!…knars…plok! Een bewegend kunstwerk van de Amsterdamse kunstenaar Wim Vonk maakt ook geluid. Vonk is te gast in het huisje aan de Jacob Klaaijssenstraat waar André Smits al een ruim een jaar antikraak mag wonen. Vonk bouwt in Smits’ woonkamer kunstwerken die door het raam te zien zijn.

More windows & houses were filled in Goes
At the last minute Marja also made a work in one of the houses in Goes. She made a large drawing with was hanging from the ceiling to the window ( 6 x 2m).
AITW (artist in the world) AiR Hubsa Verbeke Foundation
We stayed there 5 days and left our works in the container. The drawing of Marja is reused in the works in the AiR in Verbeke (BE) by both of us.

Popup kapel
Popup Kapel is a permanent exhibition of Wim Vonk made in a brand new sea container. It is dedicated to his ancestors, not only his biological ancestors but also his artistic ancestors.
New sculpture
There is also a sculpture garden at No Art Fashion.
This year Wim made a new sculpture in this garden.

From March on we were looking at roadwork directly under our windows.
Wim started to post sometimes photos of the proces on FB and during the time it became more and more mysterious what they were doing.. the response on Fb became hilarious.
So, when it will be finished we will make a book from the proces.

BIG ROLL OF PAPER
A small item, because it is so funny it is here in the newsletter.
We picked up a roll offsetpaper 2.10 wide and veryvery thick..
it could only ne lifted by 5 people and then put in our recalcitrating car….
The funny thing is also the roll played a big role for both of us and other artists f.e Kaneli & Smit, we gratefully used it in many ways.. with thanks to Berend Peter Hogenesch and Melitta Steenhuis.

André Smits painted our car as aprt of his project at Gallery Larik to cover the costs of his new trip for artist in the world.

Wim visited tradionally England with his son Tom and visited the studio from our oldest friend and colleague Graham Boyd, a well known painter and teacher.
